Blue Rock Golf Course, designed by renowned architect Geoffrey Cornish, was completed in 1962. It is recognized as one of the best par-3 courses in the country. The Blue Rock course is located close to the Bass River, a tidal river that once was explored by Leif Eriksson. The name “Blue Rock” comes from a granite rock located in the Bass River that has a blue tint to it, and thus the area became known as Blue Rock.
The Blue Rock Golf Course is simply the best par-3 on Cape Cod and was part of the three-course rotation for the Cape Cod Open for six years. How many events do you know of that would ask professional golfers to play a par-3 course and still attract a full field? Golfers competing in the Cape Cod Open were pleased if they played Blue Rock in even par and thankful if they were only a couple over par.
