Accolades & Promotions

After taking care of the grounds at Harwichport Golf Course for 18 years, ten of those as superintendent, longtime Harwich resident Bob Kingsbury was recently promoted to superintendent/general manager. Kingsbury didn’t really take up the sport until just a couple of years ago. “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always dabbled, then I realized that as the superintendent it would be a good idea to play. It really gives me a different perspective of the course,” said Kingsbury. It was clear from the comments of golfers coming on and off the course one recent particularly hot  and humid afternoon that the members and players at Harwichport are quite pleased with the direction in which Kingsbury is taking this friendly neighborhood spot. Changes include the installation of a comprehensive irrigation system and turning the infamous 3rd hole from the “Valley of Death” into “Pleasant Valley.” For details on said transformation: go play golf there!

Paul Rudeen, the PGA Director of Instruction, received PGA Master Professional Certification in instruction in June 2010. He will be using his new teaching skills to offer lessons at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf in Brewster.
